Killing Joke is good, although very dark. One trade I LOVE is called Obsidian Age. It's DC-verse and a JLA (Justice League of America) arc, so there's a family of characters. You'll probably love Kyle (the Green Lantern at the time). That's when I fell in love with him. Wonder Woman, Bats, Supes, Flash... they're all there (even Zatanna!). Tower of Babel is another awesome arc that's offered as a trade. You can get both for pretty cheap as well. Try Mile High comics, they usually have a good assortment. I think Amazon has it as well. Both are very enjoyable and since their "arcs", you can jump right in.

Haha don't worry about it! Yes I'm still looking for suggestions... I think I'm more into the 'dark' superhero stuff. I've only ever read the two that I mentioned earlier and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, and I quite liked them. Some people suggested I read The Killing Joke, but man, it's such a bitch to find it on its own. =\
